Original choreography is an on-going process that never stops.  But you can stop by Dafmark (or call us to find out about our rehearsal schedule) and watch our dancers preparing for upcoming productions.  Keep moving...

Upcoming projects for 2008/2009:
On Saturday, November 22 at 8 PM and on Sunday, November 23 at 3 PM: 'Voices of Change" presenting works of choreography to vocal music with the participation of local musicians and poets.
On February 7, 09, a cabaret night with great entertainment and libations.
In April 09, Scott Heinrich, our guest performer returns to Erie for a program entitled:  "Holding on to... about things that were in a time to come.  Each work of choreography will be designed around a prop that belongs to our past experience and forces us to relate to its intrusive qualities while affecting the way we feel about the future.  Stay tuned!

Already produced:
Thursday, May 24, 2008 at 1 PM: "Partners in Dance VII,"  at St. Ben's Community Center, 320 E. 10th Street in Erie.  Once more, a collaboration to fill one's soul with the wonders of life.  Our deepest thanks Erie Home for Children and Adults, Inc. for giving us the privilege to experience such a rich and thought provoking world.

Friday, March 28 & Saturday, March 29 2008 at 8 PM: "Back to Bach!" Dafmark's newest works of choreography to the music of Johann Sebastian Bach, interpreted by various artists from our times.   The presentation included live music performances by young local artists.   What talent we have in this city!   The event took place at Dafmark.

Thursday, May 24, 2007 at 1 PM: "Partners in Dance VI,"  at St. Ben's Community Center, 320 E. 10th Street in Erie. This integrated production features Dafmark's dancers and participants from the Erie Homes for Children and Adults, Inc.  The event is free and open to the public.  Donations are accepted at the door.

Saturday, April 21, 2007: "Vernal Equinox," an evening of poetry, dance & music featuring young talents from local high schools as well as dancers from our Academy. 7:00 till 8 PM at 1033 State Street.  Reception followed with refreshments, cheese and fruit.  Admission was $5.

Saturday, March 24 & Sunday, March 25, 2007: "Shakespeare in Motion," a collaborative evening of dance and theatre including actress Paula Barrett from Gannon University Theatre Department and Dafmark Dance Theater with new choreography by Dafna and Jean-Marc Baier.  8 PM on Saturday and 3 PM on Sunday at the Schuster Theatre.    The production was been made possible in part by a grant from the Arts Council of Erie.

Saturday, February 3, 2007: "Erie Festival of Dance."  This is the fourth biennial festival of dance held at the Mary D'Angelo Performing Arts Center.  Dafmark's participation to the event featured "Requiem to the World" created by Dafna Rathouse Baier this year. 

Wednesday, December 20, 2006:
Dafmark Dance Theater presented "Winter Solstice," an evening of poetry, piano and dance featuring a slide presentation by Mary Birdsong, poetry by Mary Lou Kownacki as well as new choreography by Dafmark Dance Theater and pianist Gilles Mulard.  This was the third poetry evening presented by Dafmark with an audience of over 70 people.  Another wonderful collaboration!

Sunday, October 15, 2006: Fall Fiesta at Latino's restaurant , 1313 Parade St. - safe parking across the street.  Zorro is the theme: Mexican buffet, sangria, live musical entertainment by Mambo, piņata, Zorro's masks, silent auction, dancing and much more.   3 till 6 PM.  Tickets are $50 per person.   Make your reservations early, call 454-3993.  This event is sponsored by Northwest Savings Bank.

Saturday, September 23, 2006:
"Autumn Verse," an evening of poetry, song and dance featuring poets Sean Thomas Daugherty, Berwyn Moore, John Repp, music by Tom Brocki. Dafmark Dance Theater presented four new solos to music from France, Israel and Erie!!!   Reception followed with wine, cheese and fruit.  It was a blast.  The event was sponsored by Vince & Genni Brocki as well as Knox, McLaughlin, Gornall & Sennett Law Firm.


Wednesday, June 21, 2006: "Summer Verse," an evening of poetry, song and dance featuring poets Michael Bennett & Mary Moody, storyteller Nick Garcia & music by Tom Brocki. Shelly Walker performed.  The concept was created by Vince Brocki.  A stroke of genius!

June 1, 2006: "Partners in Dance V,"   a collaborative performance featuring Dafmark Dance Theater and Erie Homes for Children and Adults, Inc. at St. Ben's Community Center, 320 E. 10th Street in Erie.

Saturday, May 20, 2006 at 5 PM: this was Dafmark Dance Academy's Spring Recital. The company performed as well. The event took place at Villa Maria Academy Auditorium, 2403 West 8th Street. 

Friday & Saturday, April 21 and 22, 2006 at 8 PM:  The production took place at 1033 State Street, when we transformed our studio into a gorgeous theatre space.  Dafmark presented "Revolving Doors," a shared evening of exciting new works with LABCO Dance Company from Pittsburgh.   This event was funded in part by the Arts Council of Erie and by PennPat. 

Saturday, March 25, 2006 from 7:30 to 10:30 PM: "Cabaret Suite and Sweets!"   Dafmark's first ever cabaret evening featuring live entertainment, gourmet desserts, wine and appetizers, silent auction and more.   David Matthews was our master of ceremony and led a starlit cast of the best Erie has to offer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  such as: Lea Bodine, Tom Brocki, Dafmark dancers, Erica Heilman, Jim Madden and Marilyn Livosky, to name just a few.  If you missed this year, keep us in mind for next year's cabaret a la Dafmark.

Tuesday, March 7, 2006 at 8 PM: Dafmark and the Ravel Trio presented "Unsilenced Voices" in Fisher Hall at Indiana University of PA. This event was funded in part by PennPat.

February 14 thru 16, 2006: Jean-Marc and Shelly were in residency at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
